Temple Warriors

A cage of darkness

My brow is moistened from the languor of battle none can relish

My soul is parched from the heat of passions so sublime

They rage, dark and light, in a commingled combat fiercely hellish

While on your bosom rests tenderly this temple to which none can climb

And as I gaze into your eyes serene and divine

My breath flutters like the ancient dove of diluvian yore

Listen, can you hear my heart soft patter like steps feline

While razor-edged clouds imbued with heart-soaked sorrow my eyes score

What more can I do to feel the love of Eden once ours?

As now I stew in baseless forces vying for my soul

Your gaze tells me that it is time for light as darkness settles and scours

Yet, the clasp of your hand cannot banish a force as dark as coal

As these temple-imprisoned warriors their battle rage

My eyes offer a prayer of release from hell’s cage

The ruins of the Second Temple in Jerusalem.
